Scan a driver’s licence with your phone
Photograph a driver’s licence on your phone and fill the driver form on your computer. Nomora reads the card and brings the photo and recognised details into the open form for you to review.
The walkthrough uses fictional details. Capture, upload and reading times are shortened for the demonstration. Download the English transcript.
Open the scan on your computer
You can scan from any of these driver forms:
- On a booking, open Drivers, add a driver and choose Create new driver.
- In Customers → Drivers, open Add Driver.
- On a driver’s page, open the edit form.
On the booking form, click Scan in the Scan driver’s licence card. On the customer and driver edit forms, click Scan licence. Keep the scan dialog open while using the phone.
Photograph the licence
- Point your phone’s camera at the QR code on the computer and open the link. You can also use Copy to transfer the link to your phone. The phone does not need to sign in.
- Under Front, tap Take photo. Lay the card flat, fill the frame and avoid glare. Take the photo and confirm it in your phone’s camera.
- Check the preview. Use Remove and take another photo if it is blurred or cropped. Add a photo under Back (optional) if needed.
- Tap Send. Each photo shows its upload progress. When the phone shows Sent, return to the computer.
The phone uses your device’s camera. Its controls may look different from those in the video. Sent means the photos were submitted; it does not mean the licence details have finished processing.
Review and save
The computer replaces the QR code with the received photo while Nomora reads the card. When the read completes, the dialog closes and the form fills with the details it could recognise:
- Full name, personal code and date of birth.
- Address, licence number and expiry date.
- The front photo and the back photo, if you sent one.
A recognised value replaces that field’s current value. If the card does not contain a field or it cannot be read, the form keeps what was already entered. Phone and email are not filled by the scan.
Compare the filled fields with the licence. Correct any mistakes, complete missing details and use Create driver or the edit form’s save button. Scanning fills the form; you still need to save it.
If a scan does not complete
- Expired code: scan links last 30 minutes. Click New code on the computer and scan it again.
- Unreadable card: take a clearer photo on the phone and send it again. If the phone already shows Sent, use Scan another to return to capture.
- Upload error: check the phone’s connection and retry. Keep the scan dialog open on the computer.
- Continue manually: close the scan dialog and enter the driver’s details yourself.
