Record recurring expenses
Use a recurring expense for rent, subscriptions, insurance instalments or another cost that repeats. Nomora records one expense each time its scheduled date arrives. The schedule does not make a bank payment.
Create a recurring expense
- Open Finances → Expenses and click New Expense.
- Enter the name, first date and amount for one payment. Choose a category and vehicle if the cost belongs to one.
- Tick Recurring expense.
- Set Repeats every to a whole number and choose days, weeks, months or years. For a payment every two weeks, enter 2 and choose weeks.
- Set an End date, or leave it empty to continue until you stop it.
- Save, then check the recorded expense and the schedule’s next date.
If the first date is in the past, saving records the occurrences already due. A future start has no expense entries yet. Later due entries are added automatically; do not enter each month again by hand.
A monthly schedule starting on the 31st uses the last day in shorter months. The end date includes any occurrence due on that date.
You can also edit an existing one-off expense, tick Recurring expense and save. That expense becomes the first entry, and missed occurrences since its date are added. Check for months you already entered separately before converting it.
See recorded and planned costs
In the Expenses list, Recurring only shows entries created by schedules. Click All recurring expenses to open a schedule, including one that has not produced its first entry yet. View payments inside a schedule filters the expense list to its entries.
In Overview, Fixed costs projects the current and following months, covering 12 months. Expand a month, then a category, to see the schedules behind it. The Planned column and Planned to year end also include future-dated one-off expenses.
These forecasts stay separate from actual totals. A €100 monthly cost beginning 1 September and ending 31 August has 12 scheduled entries. After September’s entry is recorded, the next €100 entries remain planned until their dates arrive.
Correct one entry or change the schedule
Use the pencil on an expense row to correct just that entry. Its date, amount and other details can differ from the schedule. Saving that row leaves future entries unchanged.
To change future costs, open the expense and click Edit recurring expense, or open it from All recurring expenses. Change the amount, category, vehicle or repeat and save.
If you change details already recorded, Which payments should change? offers:
- From now on keeps recorded entries and applies the new details to future ones.
- All payments so far too updates the changed details on recorded entries as well.
Changing the repeat applies from today; it does not fill old dates using the new frequency. The first payment date is fixed once an entry has been recorded.
If you move the end date before recorded entries, Nomora asks you to confirm their removal and shows how many will be deleted.
Stop a schedule
Set an end date to stop after its last intended occurrence. To remove the schedule, click its Delete action and choose what happens to the history:
- Keep recorded payments stops the schedule and keeps its expenses as ordinary entries.
- Delete payments too stops it and removes the recorded entries.
Deleting one expense entry leaves the schedule running. It does not regenerate that deleted entry. To stop future entries, change or delete the schedule itself.
Costs linked to vehicle documents
A document-owned schedule is read-only in Finances. Use Open the vehicle to change it on its document. You can still correct an individual recorded expense in Finances.
See Vehicle document costs for insurance periods, total premiums spread monthly, existing-cost adoption and renewal.
